01 / The Zone

Most never leave

ZONE-30 is a seasonal zombie survival server for Minecraft: Java Edition. Twenty years after a second, worse disaster at the reactor, the 30 km Exclusion Zone is a quarantined hellscape. Radiation mutated the dead. The military walled the Zone and stopped coming in. You are a Drifter, hired to go in for artifacts, salvage and answers.

Dread over action

You should feel hunted, under-equipped and alone. Fighting is the last option, not the first.

The Zone is the enemy

Radiation, anomalies, weather and the Surge kill as many players as zombies do.

Everything is custom

Custom mobs, weapons, sounds, UI, terrain and story. Every gameplay plugin is written for this server, and nothing should look or sound like vanilla Minecraft.

ZONE-30 is in closed development. This page describes what the game is being built to do, and details can change before Season 1.

02 / Season clock

45 days. Seal or Fall.

From the moment a season launches, the players have 45 real days to seal the Zone. The clock runs server-wide and never pauses, not even for restarts. No season is running yet, so there is no countdown to show here.

Sealed

Finish the World Story and kill the Elephant's Foot in the final raid. The clock stops, the Zone calms, and the server stays open until day 45.

Fallen

The clock hits zero and the Overrun begins. Every herd converges, safe zones lose protection, and the world is scripted to ruin.

New world

Either way the season ends. The server goes dark for a 2-day cooldown, then a brand-new world opens with a new map and everyone starting fresh.

Six Doom levels

  1. Doom 0 Quiet

    Days 1–10

Normal herd pressure and Surge timing.

  2. Doom 1 Stirring

    Days 11–20

Herd pressure +25%. Surges every ~100 min. Herds start forming in starting-zone regions if unattended.

  3. Doom 2 Restless

    Days 21–30

Herd pressure +50%. Hordes of 80+ are common. Outposts get besieged.

  4. Doom 3 Rising

    Days 31–38

Swarms form on their own. Trade hubs face sieges and can fall until players retake them.

  5. Doom 4 Breaking

    Days 39–44

Surges every hour. Starting zones lose safe-zone status during sieges.

  6. Doom 5 The Fall

    Day 45, final hour

    The Overrun.

The World Story pushes back: each Act completed server-wide lowers Doom one step, but never more than one level below where the calendar has reached.

03 / Backgrounds

Five ways in

You choose one starting background, once. Each has its own epic quest, and only that background can start it and earn its signature reward. A new season means a new choice.

  • Ex-Soldier

    Signature reward: the Requiem rifle.

  • Field Medic

Signature reward: the Prototype Antiviral Injector.

  • Scavenger

    Signature reward: the Smuggler's Pack.

  • Engineer

    Signature reward: the Arc Projector.

  • Scientist

    Signature reward: the Anomaly Harness.

Three skill trees, Survivor, Combat and Technician, grow with XP from kills, quests, exploration and crafting.

04 / Systems

What will kill you, and what you get for living

  • Survive the Zone

Radiation builds, water can be contaminated, and bites can infect. Die fully infected and you rise as a zombie in your own skin.

  • Herds that grow

Leave an area unattended and its dead grow from a Pack into a Swarm of 150+. A Swarm takes a server-wide effort to stop.

  • Build and raid bases

Snap together a base in five material tiers and defend it from zombies and other players. Raids are loud, and loud pulls the herds in.

  • Factions and trade hubs

Earn reputation with the Garrison, the Pilgrims and the Free Drifters, watch for the Bandits of Kopachi, and discover six neutral trade hubs.

  • 50 epic quests and 370 odd jobs

Epics take days to weeks and tie the world together. Odd jobs take 5 to 30 minutes and pay mostly in gear.

  • Cosmetics only

Never pay-to-win. Anything sold changes how you look. Nothing sold changes who wins a fight, a raid or a season.
